I think of the Hemingway quote of "two crappy pages per day". That's what helps the author write their deeply-desired book.

This line in your essay resonated with me as well: “The way to do a piece of writing is three or four times over, never once,“ explains author John McPhee. “For me, the hardest part comes first, getting something—anything—out in front of me.”

Did you watch Da Vinci’s Demons? Great series on Disney + . I am sure you would enjoy it. Not sure how much of it is true, but the actors are superb. And the imagery really great.
